Puppy Vaccination
5-way vaccine should be used as follows:
Puppies should be vaccinated every 3–4 wk between the ages of 6 and 16 wk (e.g., at 6, 10, and 14 wk, or 8, 12, and 16 wk). To minimize the risk of maternal antibody interference with vaccination, the final dose of the initial series should be administered between 14 and 16 wk of age, regardless of the product used.

Rabies should be vaccinated separately after 12 weeks or as recommended by your vet. Some recommend after 16 weeks.
Lyme and Lepto are both considered non-core, so follow your vet recommendations. I do not vaccinate those.

Here's what I recommend for the buyers to have/get before picking up the puppy
The list is mainly for Canadians, but can be used by Americans with some change of suppliers.
If I haven't mentioned it, here's a good book Joan Bailey "How to help gundogs train themselves". Looks like it's out of print on Amazon, but may be available here

Some food for a couple of days will be provided with the puppy.
I will tell you in advance what I feed, so you can get more of it. I feed Costco food now.
I will see if I continue adult food or use the puppy one.

You'll get care instructions and pedigree, if it's ready (there are two pedigrees - NAVHDA and SMCNA).
You'll need:
food and water bowls (I use fairly heavy stainless steel from Walmart, wide bottom, about 2 L)
Crate (I use wire crate at home and plastic in the car) they go on sale regularly in pet stores, Canadian Tire etc
Wire crate, 36"

Plastic crate, 36" is better, but 26" will fit one SM for short drives

Some old towel to place in the crate and more for cleaning.
I rarely wash dogs, when I do I use baby shampoo.
A crate mattress or pillow for later when the pup stops chewing
Dog bed for later for the dog to lie on, unless you're buying him/her a new sofa :)
Leash
Adult collar (for later) I buy mine from gundogsupply.com the shipping is not expensive, even though it's in the USA. Make sure to order name tags to go with the collar, buy few spares to use later on e-collar, GPS, extra collars. Ivy's neck is 14.5"
No need to decide on the name before ordering a collar, good things to have on the collar are your phone numbers and something like "needs medication" or "reward if found"

Nail clippers
Canada https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0002DK51E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
US (if ordering with the collar)

Toys:
Chew toys, Kongs are good, no hard chew toys (they break teeths), no squeaky toys (danger of swallowing) - Amazon has lots and for decent prices.
Flea and tick preventative, heartworm preventative - usually obtained from a vet, I buy in the US, more on this later.
Whistle (buy 2-3, it's easy to lose or forget), any pealess version will work.
http://www.gundogsupply.com/-030-.html
A hair brush (dollar store one works).
Furminator is good (here's a knock off version, takes 2 months to get it, but it's cheap and it works), order Med size
The listed items frequently change on Ali, so I cannot provide a specific link

In a fenced yard, puppies squeeze through small holes and under fences, so those need to be closed/patched. Cars are the biggest killer of dogs, make sure yours is safely contained, under control or on the leash!!! Someone's dog just got killed last week, after running away from the yard.
I use both GPS collar and e-collar when I train or hunt (I also use bells when I hunt in a dense brush). You don't need the GPS for the first few months. I use Garmin Astro 220 with DC30 and DC40 collars, those are older units and you can only get them used. They're good value in my opinion, but do your own research. I prefer them to touch screen units and I do not recommend combo e-c and GPS units.
It's important to socialize the pups, so controlled exposure to other dogs and people is a must. Make sure the dogs are healthy, avoid excessively contaminated places like dog parks (never a good idea). Minimize contact with shoes, as they carry contaminants.
Immunity is a bit tricky subject, because single dose of a vaccine provides immunity, but we're fighting with maternal immunity provided by the dam, basically as soon as it wears off, the vaccination will provide 'new immunity' in 2-3 weeks, but there could be a window of weak/no immunity...so be careful. The iron rule (if you want to play it safe) is to contain the puppy until 2 weeks after the last puppy shot.
I avoid aggressive/unknown dogs like a plague, I've seen too many dog fights and resulting damages. Never trust an owner of an unknown dog. A lot of them will say 'Oh, He's fine" just before he/she attacks... Watch the body language.
A friend just had extensive (and expensive) dental surgery on a pup, due to a bite from another dog in the household. He bit her so hard, 2 molars inverted in her upper jaw and were growing sideways.
So don't be afraid to say NO! to people and dogs, it's your puppy!
Good location to socialize the puppy (after all the shots) is a busy place like a shopping plaza - lots of different people, noises etc.
